Just like fashion, there are decorating trends that emerge every year that inform what you see in stores and in homes. House Beautiful asked some super savvy decor bloggers what they see as the top design trends of 2014. Let’s examine some of our favorites. Click here for the full list.
1. Vintage Wonders
Refurbished vintage furniture is making a strong comeback; for example the pink Draper style dresser is adds some vintage style in an otherwise modern nursery over on The Animal Print Shop blog.
2. Blues
Two of the House Beautiful bloggers named blues and navy as the 2014 trend to follow. Navy can add a lot of sophistication to a room when done properly. A navy couch can anchor a light room, and mixing blue prints can add a layer of texture. We’re seeing it on walls, floors, beds…everything!
3. Florals
Florals and chintz are back, but look for them in a more modern way. Large-scale prints and different color palettes (think blacks and neons) are being implemented to add pattern to rooms.
4. Metals
Look for gold and silver decor elements mixed in around the home. This goes hand-in-hand with the vintage and glamour trends bloggers are predicting for the year. Just keep it subtle, we don’t need full ’80s gold coming back, a little goes a long way!
