Raleigh tops a lot of lists for being a great place to live and work and, according to a new study from NerdWallet, Raleigh is now being ranked as one of the nation’s top 10 cities for women entrepreneurs. NerdWallet looked at the following when assessing a city’s entrepreneurial climate:
1. Is the city an entrepreneurial one?
2. Are there female entrepreneurs for networking or mentorship?
3. Does the city have a thriving economy?
4. Is it a highly educated city?
The study found that Raleigh’s low unemployment rate and high number of businesses per person make it a great environment for female entrepreneurs. There are a number of women-in-business support networks, such as Raleigh Business and Professional Women, and Raleigh has adopted policies that will award 15% of the city’s contracts to minority-owned and women-owned businesses.
