Here’s a neat addition to your Memorial Day weekend plans! The first ever WRAL Freedom Balloon Fest will be going on all weekend in Zebulon, with over 40 hot air balloon teams in attendance. The Festival will kick off on Friday, May 22nd with a mass ascension and a balloon “glow” just after sunset at Bennett Bunn Plantation in Zebulon. There will be competition balloon flights on Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings. On Saturday and Sunday spectators can meet the balloon pilots and take tethered balloon rides or enjoy evening balloon “glows”. Admission to all events is free to the public!
