Reasons to be thankful for living in the Triangle

There are so many reasons that the Triangle is the ideal place to live. From the food to the climate to the culture, the Raleigh area has a little bit of something for everyone.skyline

Location, location, location.

Raleigh is located in the heart of the Piedmont region of North Carolina, meaning its residents have easy access to both the mountains and the beach. Taking day and weekend trips while living in Raleigh is a breeze as both an adventure in the mountains and a lazy day by the ocean are just a quick drive away. With this position comes a favorable climate. Raleigh fully experiences every season (sometimes within the same week). From the occasional snowy winter days to warm and breezy springtime to the colorful foliage of fall, the City of Oaks offers a full spectrum of weather.

FOOD.

While North Carolina itself is known for wonderfully southern foods, Raleigh in particular has some excellent options to choose from. Downtown Raleigh in particular is host to a number of gourmet restaurants to suit any mood. Raleigh has a number of barbecue restaurants offering both eastern and western styles of sauce (and likely the best pork barbeque you’ll ever taste). Our State Magazine even has an app to help you find the best barbeque as close to you as possible. The area is particularly well-known for hot and ready Krispy Kreme glazed donuts fresh from the conveyor belt. With only one bite of one of these melt-in-your-mouth treats, you’ll never want to leave. Top off your trip by washing one down with a local favorite: Cheerwine (also known as cherry cola’s tastier, made-in-NC cousin).

Culture and community.

The Triangle area is rich in culture. Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill all contain endless art shows, concerts and performances by local and nationally-renowned artists, and locally-owned shops to meander through. The Carolina Hurricanes ice hockey team is featured in Raleigh and the Durham Bulls baseball team is featured in Durham. Woven into these communities are top-tier colleges and universities such as Duke, UNC Chapel Hill, NC State, Shaw, Peace, Meredith, and NC Central, providing highly educated graduates to the area. Research Triangle Park provides a host of opportunities for students and employees alike, making the Triangle a center for research, home to some of the best hospitals in the country, and a pool of opportunity for anyone who’s drawn to the area.
