Labor Day Weekend FunLabor Day is often bittersweet—the long weekend signals the unofficial end of summer and the transition to fall and cooler weather. Many of us relish in the extra day to rest and relax, while wistfully remembering family vacations and lazy Saturdays at the pool.

If you aren’t headed out of town to take advantage of every last sunny summer minute on the beach, make sure to make the most of this three-day weekend right here in the Triangle area. There’s plenty to do and see.

 

First Friday
Friday, Sept. 4 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Downtown Raleigh

Experience all of the art and culture downtown Raleigh has to offer. Set your own pace on a self-led walking tour of some of the City’s galleries and art studios. Grab a bite to eat at participating restaurants for First Friday specials on their delicious offerings.

Bull City Rumble
Friday, Sept. 4 starting at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 5 starting at 11 a.m.
Downtown Durham

Like bikes? Take part in the Bull City Rumble vintage motorcycle and scooter rally in downtown Durham. From bike shows to street parties with live bands, this Rumble will certainly be one buzzed about event.

Raleigh Seafood Festival
Saturday, Sept. 5 and Sunday, Sept. 6 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Pullen Park, 408 Ashe Ave., Raleigh, NC 27606
Cost: $7; children under 12 are free

Feeling a bit crabby? Go get some seafood! From fish to crabs, crawfish and more, your taste buds are sure to thank you for taking them to the Raleigh Seafood Festival. You’ll find fun for the whole family with Pullen Park amusement rides and playgrounds, live local bands, arts and crafts exhibits, and local food vendors. You can even sign up to take part in the SouthEast Crab Feast All You Can Eat Blue Crabs event.

Labor Day Music Fest
Saturday, Sept. 5 from noon to 8 p.m.

Cost: $30 in advance, $40 at gate

Like R&B? The Labor Day Music Fest may be for you. Enjoy live performances by Lloyd and Dej Loaf.

Celebrate at Chatham Hill Winery
Monday, Sept. 7 from noon to 5 p.m.
8245 Chapel Hill Road, Cary, NC 27513

Make a Labor Day date on Monday at Chatham Hill Winery. The urban winery will introduce new Wine & Cheese Flights—four wine and four cheese pairings—to delight your palate. The Burnin’ Wood Food Truck will also be onsite serving up tasty BBQ.
