Raleigh is clearly growing, and growing quickly, according to Forbes. Raleigh is named to the #2 spot on the newly released list “America’s Fastest-Growing Cities” on the magazine’s website. Forbes cites the influx of jobs from such RTP companies as Cisco, Credit Suisse, GSK and IBM and the abundance of local universities as draws to the Raleigh area. It also notes the relative affordability of doing business in Raleigh as another attraction for big businesses, which in turn creates jobs and draws more people to the Triangle. Once they get here they find an excellent quality of life and an affordable cost-of-living! Forbes determined their list by first identifying the 100 most populous metros in the U.S. and then rated them on 6 metrics:
*estimated rate of population growth for 2013
*estimated rate of population growth for 2014
*year-over-year job growth for 2013
*economic growth rate for 2013
*federal unemployment data
*median salaries for local college-educated workers
