Have you visited the North Carolina State Fair yet? You know, it’s not all just funnel cakes and games. There are actually many cultural and agricultural events to take in as well. There are cooking contests covering everything ranging from the House-Autry Mills “Southern Fried Classic” to the NC Cattlemen’s Beef Council’s “Fire Up Your Crock Pot” recipe contest. Dorton Arena is playing host to several musical acts over the course of the Fair including Scotty McCreery, Brian McKnight, and others; there are also several performance stages featuring artists like Raleigh’s own Jeanne Jolly and bluegrass musician Larry Cordle. More not-to-be-missed attractions are flower cutting and pumpkin carving demonstrations at the Flower and Garden Show, and a bit of history at the Antique Farm Machinery exhibit to round out your trip to the Fair. The Fair will be in town through this Sunday, October 21st, and the weather looks perfect! Click here for a full list of exhibits and entertainment; the Fair really is “A Bumper Crop of Fun”.
