According to a new study by Bloomberg Business week Raleigh can add another accolade to the list: “America’s Best City”. Bloomberg spent months analyzing various metrics including: quality of life, restaurants, school scores, crime rates, park space, museums per capita, number of colleges, even pro sports teams, and came to the conclusion that Raleigh rises to the top.
The combination of Raleigh’s vibrant social offerings, it’s walkable revitalized downtown area, green spaces, and good schools means that Raleigh packs a big-city punch in a city of only around 400,000. The city has shown relative resilience in a challenging economy, with some companies, such as Red Hat, even adding jobs and expanding facilities. The surrounding top-tier colleges and growth of the Research Triangle Park’s tech and pharma industries are also contributing factors to Raleigh’s new title.
